Le biocluster Genopole poursuit son développement principalement grâce au soutien financier des collectivités publiques ainsi qu’à des ressources propres.
Genopole pursues its development thanks notably to the financial support of public collectivities and also to its own resources.
Durant la période 1998-2018, le GIP Genopole a été financé de façon pérenne par les collectivités qui ont totalisé 83 % du budget global. Le GIP Genopole s’est appuyé également sur des ressources propres (15%) et sur l’aide de l’AFM-Téléthon (2%). Le budget cumulé durant cette même période s’élève à 308,4 M€. De 1998 à 2002, Genopole, alors constitué en association, a perçu 29,4 M€. Puis jusqu’en 2018, Genopole devenu Groupement d’intérêt public, a disposé d’un budget de 279 M€.
L’apport de la Région Île-de-France a été renforcé depuis 2017, conséquence de la loi NOTRe qui a retiré la compétence économique dévolue aux Départements. Le budget 2018 s’établit à 16,77 M€, plus de 10 M€ émanant de la Région. L'État maintient son soutien à hauteur de 2,8 M€.
La part la plus importante des dépenses est revenue au financement de plates-formes technologiques de pointe et d’équipements semi lourds partagés sur le site (30 %). Et en second lieu, à parts égales, à l’accompagnement des entreprises et au soutien des laboratoires de recherche (24 %).
À ce budget, s’ajoutent notamment les fonds investis par la CCI Essonne qui gère la pépinière d’entreprises Genopole, ainsi que

les moyens humains et financiers des organismes académiques (CEA, CNRS, Inserm) et de l’Université d’Évry dans les laboratoires de recherche du site.
Public collectivities have reliably provided 83% of Genopole's total budget from 1998 to 2018. The remainder has been covered by GIP Genopole's own resources (15%) and financing from AFM-Telethon (2%). The cumulative budget of Genopole for this 20-year period was €308.4 million. Genopole was an association from 1998 to 2002, and during that time it received €29.4 million. It then became and remains a Groupement d’intérêt public (GIP, a form of public-private partnership for missions of public interest), disposing of a budget of €279 million.
The Île-de-France Region increased its support in 2017 as a result of the NOTRe law, which withdrew economic competencies theretofore held by the French administrative departments. The 2018 budget was €16.77 million, €10 million of which was provided by the Region. The French State has maintained its support of €2.8 million.
The financing of Genopole's mutualized state of the art technological platforms and semi-heavy equipment was the largest spending category (30%). This latter was followed in equal measure by business accompaniment programs and research laboratory support (both 24%).
Beyond Genopole's budget per se, there are also the funds invested by the Essonne CCI, which manages the Genopole incubator, and the human and financial means of the academic organisms (CEA, CNRS, Inserm) and the University of Évry in the site's research labs.
