FONDAGEN FOR BIOTECH INNOVATION
Fondagen est un fonds de dotation pour l’innovation en biotechnologies. Présidé par Pierre Tambourin, ancien directeur général de Genopole, Fondagen a vocation à soutenir les avancées biotechnologiques dans les domaines de la médecine personnalisée et régénérative, des bio-médicaments, de la biologie de synthèse, des biocarburants et matériaux biosourcés, de la dépollution ainsi que des biomatériaux innovants.
Fondagen, entité à but non lucratif, permet, grâce aux dons des entreprises, des particuliers ou des fondations, de faciliter le développement de solutions d’avenir dans les domaines de la médecine, de la santé, de l’environnement et des énergies renouvelables.
En 2018, l’aide de Fondagen a bénéficié à diverses activités au sein de Genopole.
• Bourses destinées à des séjours à l’étranger pour doctorants : grâce au soutien financier de la société AMGEN, six doctorants poursuivant actuellement leurs recherches dans les laboratoires de Genopole ont pu partir durant 4 à 10 jours suivre des formations de très haut niveau, dispensées par des centres européens ou internationaux (Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory, EMBL Heidelberg, Wellcome Trust, campus Cambridge-UK).
• Soutien au chercheur Mario Amendola : en 2018, le soutien accordé à ce chercheur en poste au sein du laboratoire Integrare (Inserm-Généthon) a été prolongé afin qu’il poursuive son projet sur les approches innovantes en thérapie génomique des hémoglobinopathies.
• Allocation postdoctorale : 2018 est la deuxième année de soutien au projet postdoctoral de Virginie Mournetas (I-Stem) consacré à la thérapie de la maladie de Duchenne par une approche de saut d’exon.
• Soutien au dispositif Shaker : grâce à un financement des laboratoires Servier, Fondagen a contribué au projet Shaker de Genopole, qui a sélectionné neuf lauréats en 2018.
Fondagen is a not-for-profit endowment fund for biotech innovation. Presided by former Genopole Chief Executive Pierre Tambourin, Fondagen's purpose is to support biotech advances in the fields of personalized and regenerative medicine, biodrugs, synthetic biology, biofuels, biosourced materials, environmental remediation and innovative biomaterials.
Through donations from businesses, foundations and individuals, Fondagen facilitates the development of tomorrow's solutions in the fields of medicine, health, the environment and renewable energy.
In 2018, diverse activities at Genopole benefited from Fondagen's support:
• Grants for PhD student foreign study: Thanks to support from AMGEN, six PhD students carrying out research within Genopole laboratories were able to spend four to ten days under intensive, high-level training in international centers in Europe and beyond:
(Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory, EMBL Heidelberg, Wellcome Trust, 15 campus Cambridge-UK).
• Support for researcher Mario Amendola: In 2018, support for Mario was extended so that he could continue his project on innovative approaches to gene therapies for hemoglobinopathies within the laboratory Integrare (Inserm-Genethon).
• Post-doctoral allocations: 2018 was the second year of support for Virginie Mournetas' postdoc project at I-Stem on the exon skipping approach in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
• Support for the Shaker program: Thanks to laboratory support from Servier, Fondagen contributed to Genopole's Shaker program, for which 9 laureates were chosen in 2018.
