Genopole a investi 30 % de son budget pour soutenir les programmes et laboratoires de recherche et accompagner les jeunes chercheurs. Genopole mène notamment une politique de renforcement des compétences qui s’appuie sur deux appels à projets : les allocations post-doctorales et les Atiges. Les thématiques scientifiques privilégiées se rattachent aux axes stratégiques définis par Genopole.
Genopole invests 30% of its budget for the support of research laboratories and their programs, and the accompaniment of young researchers. Particularly Genopole deploys a policy of competence strengthening involving two calls for proposals: the Postdoctoral Repatriation Allocation Program and the Atiges grants. The biocluster prioritizes scientific topics that are coherent with it strategic axes.

In the same fashion, Vignesh Janakiraman, a beneficiary of the allocation program in 2016, successfully developed a high performance process for the production of a blue pigment within the company Algobiotech. Having completed the allocation program in 2018, he has now become the scientific director of the company.

POSTDOCTORAL REPATRIATION ALLOCATIONS: ENCOURAGE THE RETURN OF YOUNG RESEARCHERS
Les allocations post-doctorales de retour sont réservées aux jeunes chercheurs formés sur le territoire national qui, à l’issue de leur stage post-doctoral à l’étranger, souhaitent revenir en France. Sélectionnés sur des critères d’excellence, ceux-ci
34 bénéficient d’une allocation de 130 k€ qui finance pendant deux ans leur salaire de chercheur au sein d’un laboratoire ou d’une entreprise du site de Genopole. En 2018, 3 nouvelles allocations ont été attribuées pour des recherches en modélisation moléculaire, cellules souches et biotechnologie environnementale dans les laboratoires Lambe et Génomique métabolique. Depuis la mise en place du dispositif, 82 post-doctorants ont bénéficié de ce dispositif incitatif. À l’issue de leur allocation, tous ont trouvé un emploi au sein d’un laboratoire académique, d’une entreprise ou dans l’enseignement supérieur (cf. graphique). Ainsi en 2018, l’allocation de Vignesh Janakiraman, attribuée en 2016, a pris fin après lui avoir permis de mettre au point un procédé performant de production d’un pigment bleu au sein d’Algobiotech. Il est devenu aujourd’hui directeur scientifique de la société.
Genopole's postdoctoral repatriation allocations are reserved for French-trained researchers, who after postdoctoral research abroad, wish to return to France. Criteria of excellence drive candidate selection, and those chosen benefit from a €130,000 allocation financing their salary as a researcher within a laboratory or company at the biocluster. In 2018, three new allocations were attributed for research in molecular modeling, stem cells and environmental biotechnology in the Lambe and Genomics Metabolics laboratories.
Since its deployment, 82 postdocs have benefitted from the allocations, and all have found permanent posts in academic laboratories,

Depuis sa mise en place en 2000, Genopole apporte un soutien constant aux allocations de recherche, qui ont bénéficié à 82 post-doctorants au total, représentant en moyenne 4,5 nouveaux allocataires par an. La plupart sont accueillis dans des laboratoires académiques, mais environ un tiers des bénéficiaires mènent leurs recherches dans des entreprises. Depuis 2000, 7,8 M€ ont été consacrés à cette action, dont 130 k€ financés par le fonds de dotation Fondagen.
Genopole has maintained this policy since its implementation in 2000. In all, 82 postdocs have benefited from the repatriation program, i.e. an average of 4.5 new recipients per year. Most take posts within academic laboratories, but about a third carry out their research within a business. Since 2000, €7.8 million, of which €130,000 was provided by the endowment fund Fondagen, has been allocated to the postdoctoral repatriation program.
